When boredom strikes, I write

HIDDEN, My first album

This album was structured in a way to tell a story. In a way, I tried to tell this story with the songs in order. From me being alone (Peace) (Vibe), to me being in love (Never Let Go) (Inside) (Sweet Tea), to me being shocked from infidelity (S-S-Y), to me being depressed (Falling) (waSted), to me realizing that I will be ok (Luv Lost) (Happy N Better) to me focusing on myself (Focus). This project was so much fun to create and I would love to make more music if I find the time. This album is currently unavailable for streaming due to remixing efforts.

My Singles

Sweet Tea (ft. Diamond Desireé)

This was the first song that I wrote. It was one that I had began writing for fun then I found out about GarageBand for IOS and decided to create an instrumental for it. After I created it and recorded on my iPhone lightning headphones, I decided that it needed something more. I called up an old friend and asked her if she would be interested and I was so happy when she said yes. She wrote her verse and we recorded a week later. A week after that my first single emerged on all platforms and with all the positive reviews, it was just the beginning of my musical journey.

Vibe (ft. Jescbeatz)

This song was one that sort of came up out of no where. I remember being on a train coming from the State Fair with my family, for my birthday. I sat across from my big cousin JJ and asked him to email me a spare beat he had because I was in the mood to write. In that same hour, he sent me the beat, and I wrote the chorus and the first verse. When writing, I was sort of hyping myself up because at this time, I was feeling sort of unseen. So I wrote as I listened to the beat, adding harmonies and background vocals in my head. As soon as I got home, I recorded the song and finished the second verse, I soon created cover art and even choreography for a future music video. The song was then released and to this day,  people walk up to me saying “I’m a vibe, a whole vibe”.

Inside (ft. Garland Moore)

This song was one created out of boredom in all honesty. My friend Garland and I sang together a lot before this song and it was only a matter of time until we recorded something together. We sat in my room and worked out an instrumental. “You like this?”, “Nah try this”, “Ohhh I like that!”. We decided to make a love song describing the things we feel when interacting with that special girl in our lives. We recorded the week after writing and the best part to us is that our ad libs at the end of the song were recorded all in ONE SINGLE TAKE! We played it back after recording and were so happy with it we decided to keep it. This song was released a week later and performed live 5 months later as a guest performance in our school talent show.

Focus (ft. Jescbeatz)

Another song featuring my big cousin and his sick beats. I wrote this song mid semester when I felt is was incredibly difficult for me to focus and get in the swing of things. I wasn’t expecting the song to be fast paced, let alone popular but it was an instant bop when I sent it to my friends for review. The song basically was me reminding myself that at this point in my life, the small things I was so worried about would fix themselves and I should put my efforts towards the bigger things that were more important. I play this song at least twice a day to wake me up.

Falling (ft. Taariq Nazhim)

This song is one that I am very proud of mostly because of the guest artist I have on it! The song was written almost a year before its recording and it was during a time where I was experiencing some heart ache from a past relationship. I wrote what I felt and just really let myself be vulnerable to the music. At the time, my friend Taariq was at the school and I asked if he would be willing to collaborate on the song. I asked him specifically because of his tone, and I felt the music along with the type of song would really suit him. It was truly an honor working with him and I would do it again in a heartbeat! This song was released months after its recording, still becoming one of my hits and remaining in my top 10 songs.

In this no longer streaming song, I spoke my truth. Releasing feelings and self issues I’d been holding on to a while. Sometimes just addressing things can make you feel better about the situation. This song is pretty unique to me because 1, it doesn’t have a chorus per say. If you know me, you know I love me a good chorus that can be sung with some harmonies and put on repeat, but this song was different. Also, believe it or not, I created this beat myself. Went to my iPad and learned how to sample for the first time, and if you noticed, I sampled my own song Happy n Better from my album. Overall great song to me, pretty smooth and it helped me to grow when writing it.
